The Level 1 Award in Understanding the PREVENT and Safeguarding Strategies is aimed at everyone to raise awareness and help to prevent radicalisation. It demonstrates that individuals understand the purpose of the Prevent Strategy and radicalisation, helping to safeguard children and young people.

This qualification naturally combines essential anti-radicalisation (PREVENT) training, cyber safety awareness and more traditional safeguarding topics into one holistic qualification package.

The Regulated Qualifications Framework is the single framework for regulated qualifications, the regulatory body for this qualification is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

ASQ will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

Candidates must complete the Mandatory unit

  1. Radicalisation and Safeguarding Awareness

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the unit.

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

  • Assignments/projects/reports
  • Portfolio of evidence

  • Record of oral and written questioning

To achieve this qualification all candidates must produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the assessment criteria.

Candidates who achieve the requirements for qualifications will be awarded a certificategiving the full qualification title:
