The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Specialist Installation Occupations (Construction) qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in the construction and the built environment sector working across a broad range of areas.
They are designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace where candidates are required to demonstrate skills and knowledge to a level required in the construction industry.
There are 6 specialist pathways:
- Pathway 1: Roof Lining Systems
- Pathway 2: Joint Sealant Application
- Pathway 3: Point of Purchase
- Pathway 4: Industrial Storage Systems – Maintenance and Repair
- Pathway 5: Industrial Storage Systems – Inspection
- Pathway 6: Loading Bay Equipment – Installation or Maintenance

The awarding organisation for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
The specification for these qualifications has been approved by the Welsh Government for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.

ASQSL will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
There are six pathways for this qualification and candidates are expected to choose which of the pathways that is most relevant to their skills.
Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the units.
Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.
Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

The number of units to be completed varies by pathways but all the pathways consist of the following mandatory units in addition to the pathway’s specific units:

- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
- Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Candidates who achieve the requirements for qualifications will be awarded:
- A certificate listing all units achieved, and
- A certificate giving the full qualification title:
