Choose your level
- Construction Level 2 NVQs: An introduction to the subject area you choose: structured tasks, and learning and applying fundamental knowledge.
- Construction Level 3 NVQs: The range of duties becomes wider and more complex. Autonomy and responsibility are greater at this level, with some control and guidance needed.
- Construction Level 4 NVQs: A specialist and detailed level of learning, usually covering a specific area of work. Ideal for those looking to manage others or work in technical roles.
- Construction Level 5 NVQs: Learning about an area of work at a deeper level, so you can understand and respond to complex situations with a high level of expertise. Also covers senior management and the training of others.
- Construction Level 6 NVQs: Intended for senior managers: an in-depth understanding of your discipline, building on the knowledge you have already acquired.
- Construction Level 7 NVQs: The highest level of the NVQ structure, showing that you are an expert in your field. Intended for more senior managers.
How an NVQ is assessed
Our NVQs are assessed through a combination of direct observation of your work, professional discussions, professional witness reports and written assignments completed on workbooks we provide. Assessments are conducted onsite or remotely, to suit the learner.
How long it takes
Assessment starts as soon as you register: we contact you to plan it and arrange site visits for observation and professional discussion. Usually one or two visits are enough for a Level 2 NVQ. Levels 3 to 7 may need a few more, depending on the learner. Because we observe you while you work, there is little downtime. When you have finished, we apply for your certificate from the awarding body; it can take up to two weeks to arrive.
Starting and paying
There are no formal entry requirements for most of these qualifications (each course page says). ASQSL carries out an initial assessment of your skills and knowledge to find any gaps and plan the assessment.
You can pay in two parts: half when you register, and the other half when your certificate is ready for collection. You can also pay in full at the start. Prices are shown including VAT, with the price before VAT beside it.
