Route 1: have your overseas qualification checked
CSCS says that if your construction qualification from outside the UK is not one it recognises, you contact Ecctis (once called UK NARIC) for an Industry Skills Statement. Ecctis checks whether it compares to a UK qualification and that it is genuine. You then add its reports to your CSCS application. Read the CSCS page on overseas qualifications.
Route 2: a UK NVQ for the skills you have
If you are working on a site in the UK, an NVQ can assess what you already do. Our assessor watches you work and helps you build your portfolio. There is no written exam. See which NVQ for which card.
Not working in the UK yet? Ask us before you enrol: an NVQ needs evidence from real work.
English
NVQs and the CITB courses are in English. You need enough English to explain your work to your assessor.
