NVQ assessment on your site: our assessor comes to you, anywhere in the UK
An NVQ proves you can do your job. The best place to prove it is where you do it: on your own site. Our assessors travel to sites across the UK, so you do not need to come to us.
How a site visit works
- You enrol on your NVQ. We check which qualification fits your job and the card you want.
- We agree a date. Your assessor agrees a day with you when you are doing work that fits your qualification.
- Your assessor watches you work. They stand at a safe distance and take notes against the standards. They do not stop your work.
- You talk it through. They ask a few questions in a natural pause or straight after, while the work is fresh.
- You build your portfolio. Photos, witness statements from your supervisor and work records fill the gaps between visits.
What happens on the day
Most people feel watched for the first few minutes, then forget about it. The assessor is only confirming what you already do every day. There is no written exam in an NVQ.
If something is missing on the day, you do not fail. Your assessor tells you what is still needed and agrees how you will show it: on the next visit or in your portfolio.
How to get ready
- Keep a simple record of your jobs: the date, the place and what you did.
- Ask your supervisor for a short witness statement after a big job.
- Read the standards for your qualification, so you know what the assessor looks for.
Remote observation, when a visit does not fit
Our assessments are done on site or remotely, using a mix of methods to suit you. Ask us whether a remote observation suits your job and your site.
Scotland and Northern Ireland
Our assessors can travel anywhere in the UK. Scotland uses SVQs and Northern Ireland has its own rules, so ask us first whether your NVQ is the right one for your card there.
